There are several parts to the Alaska Horse Contest. There is a public speaking and demonstration portion, horse bowl, hippology individual and team, and horse judging individual and team competitions. The contest generally takes place in April.
Horse Bowl Team Practice
Time and Place
Practice times will be announced. Practices will begin with our mini-meetings until further notice.
Your coach will be Lindsey Blaine. You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Junior and senior divisions will study together. As horse bowl gets nearer we may add an assistant coach depending on the team’s needs.
You should try to come to every practice in order to sufficiently prepare for the contest. However, I understand that you have other commitments and that emergency situations may arise. If you need to miss practice, please let your teammates know that you will be absent. Always visit our website for important notes, study tools and other resources!
Resources will be available for loan and through this website.
Homework may be assigned between meetings. It is recommended that you study for at least 30 minutes each day. Completing your homework and individual study times helps you be a significant member of the team.
Each practice will begin with a 20-minute lesson and/or activity, followed by 20 minutes of activity including practice questions on that topic. The last 20 minutes of each session will be practice questions on all topics. Additional practice sessions may be scheduled or held online.
